Leading for Excellence Through Equity

The central theme of the presentation will provide an Equity overlay to support the successful implementation of Multi-Tiered System of Support. The intentional infusion of Equity consideration to MTSS which both have proven to be pivotal to addressing disproportionality in behavior and academic achievement for students of color. The presentation will assist MTSS teams in identifying and addressing cultural incongruencies which may be a root-causes that contributes to subjective (defiance, disturbance, and disrespect) discipline referrals by school personnel.

A central focus of the presentation will highlight the role of district and site leadership in cultivating a learning environment for the successful implementation of MTSS.  The central theme of the presentation will provide an Equity overlay to support the successful implementation of Multi-Tiered System of Support. The session will support administrators in distinguishing good to great tier I instruction and coaching up Tier 1 instruction.
